iPod Speaker -- iPod Mini Speaker
Don’t think of the iPod as just a portable music device. There are plenty of
add-on speaker systems that turn the
iPod into a home or auto sound
system.
Many manufacturers have released mini speaker systems that are compatible with
the iPod. Some of the big names include
JBL, Bose, and Altec Lansing.
Some are designed for home use, while others turn your iPod Mini into a portable
boombox.
Most iPod mini speaker systems are quite small and easy to carry around. And the
sound? Amazingly big for small speakers. Speaker technology has advanced
considerably in the digital age and it is now possible to get deep sounding bass
from a small speaker.
When shopping for a speaker system for your iPod mini, consider how and where it
is going to be used. If you simply want a speaker set that you can use at home
almost any iPod Mini speakers are suitable. If you want speakers for a portable
boombox or a car audio system, your choices are more limited.
The Bose iPod speaker system, for example, can only be used at home. It is
powered with AC current and has to be plugged into a regular outlet. Other
speaker systems get their power from batteries or from the car battery.
Also consider whether you want to your speaker system to be integrated with your
computer. Some manufacturers make docking stations that double as speaker
systems. These docking systems can be connected to the computer so that you can
synchronize your music and picture collection with the iPod.
Above all, get a speaker system for your iPod mini that you enjoy. They all have
a slightly different sound, so you should get the set that sounds the best to
you. This means making A/B comparisons in the store -- something that is not
possible if you are going to buy mail order. Alternatively, listen to your
friends speakers and see what you like best.
